작곡가 이문석은 연세대학교 작곡과를 졸업 후 독일 바이마르 음대에서 Michael Obst와 Rheinhard Wolschina에게 작곡을 사사 받았으며, Klaus Heiwolt에게 음악이론, Robin Minard에게 전자음악을 수학하였다.

알고리즘을 기반으로 한 작곡기법을 바탕으로 미술, 문학, 무용, 건축, 과학 등 다양한 주제들의 작품들을 음악으로 전환(transformation) 시킴으로써 음악을 비롯 예술을 이해하고 경험하기 위한 다각적인 접근을 시도해 나가고 있다.

 

Graduated in composition at Yonsei University, Munsuk Lee studied composition under Michael Obst and Rheinhard Wolschina, music theory under Klaus Heiwolt and electronic music under Robin Minard at the University of Musik Franz Liszt Weimar (Hochschule für Musik Franz Liszt), Germany.

With composition techniques based on algorithm, he has transformed various subjects, including art, literature, dance, architecture and science, into music. By doing so, he has taken multilateral approaches to understand and appreciate the arts, including music.
