유범석은 연세대학교 음악대학에서 작곡전공으로 졸업(B.M)하였고, 독일연수(Gothe Institut Zertifikat), 미국의 인디애나 대학교(Indiana University Bloomington)에서 작곡으로 전공을, 부전공인 음악이론과 전자음악으로 석사(M.M)와 박사(D.M)을 졸업하였다.

한국일보사의 제7회 안익태 작곡상 대상(1999), 미국의 June in Buffalo(1998)와 음악제, 대구창작합창음악제(2006.2008), 창작관현악축제, 화음 챔버 프로젝트(2008. 2009. 2010, 2014)등의 초청 작곡가등으로 작품 활동을 하고 있다.

현재 ‘21세기악회’ 부회장 및 ‘창악회’, ‘아시아작곡연맹’의 회원이며 연세대학교 음악대학 작곡과 조교수로 재직하고 있다.

 

 

Beomseok Yoo was born in Sokcho, Korea. He studied composition at Yonsei University in Seoul, Korea, receiving a Bachelor of Music and a teaching certificate. After coming to the United States, he studied composition with Fred Fox, David Dzubay, Eugene O'Brien and P.Q. Phan at Indiana University, receiving a Master of Music and a Doctor of Music.

As an active composer, he is a member of the Asian Composers' League, ISCM and the Korean Society of the 21st Century Music in Korea. He is currently an Assistant Professor in composition at Yonsei University, School of Music.
